Advice for Galleria-IAH?

Hey there,

I%26#39;m coming to Houston for an Xmas party on Dec 3rd and it%26#39;s at the Omni by the Galleria. I%26#39;m planning to stay an extra night but can%26#39;t afford the Omni. I have a couple of questions....

Are there any hotels in the Galleria area that have a complimentary, or deeply discounted shuttle to Bush Intl?

Should we rent a car for the one way trip to the airport? Are there drop fees?

If we plan to shop at the Galleria before we leave, is it better to stay near the mall, between the mall and the airport, or should we stay by the airport and take transport back and forth?

Advice for Galleria-IAH?

On the cheaper chains by the Galleria (Hampton Inn, La Quinta, Hilton Garden Inn), I don%26#39;t see any indication that they have IAH shuttles. That said, I would check the individual websites or call the hotel(s) directly to be sure. I would definitely stay near the Galleria rather than out by the airport, especially if you want to do Galleria shopping. I would not rent a car- ask the hotel you chose about taxi service or one of the shuttles.

Stay in the Galleria area, the ariport is too far to go back and forth. I would be surprised if anyone offered an airport shuttle because of the distance, but they may offer a shuttle to the Galleria and its environs. There are lots of airport transportation services in the city, but you may want to get a recommendation from someone on this forum, or the hotel you are staying at.

stay at the Galleria and rent a car. The airport is too far for the hotels to offer shuttle service and a cab ride will cost you more/or about the same as it would to rent a car for a day.

plus, if you have a car, you would not have to stay directly in the Galleria area and get a cheaper hotel.
