Inverness at New Braunfels

Planning a 25th wedding anniversary trip to the San Antonio area in early March.

Is this a bad time? When is Spring break in this area?

What is the average temp. outside during this time?

We don%26#39;t really want to stay in downtown San Antonio for more than 1 night.

Has anyone stayed at Inverness in New Braunfels? I know it is a timeshare resort.

Does this area have any wineries? how about hiking trails?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Fredericksburg has more wineries and lots of B and Bs. Enchanted Rock State Park is nearby. Spring Break should not affect SA too much (except for the amusement Parks.) Schliterbahn and the rivers may also suffer fro an influx of college students. For weather, I always check Weather Underground and look at the historical information - for march 2006 the high ranges from 59 to 90 depending on the day.

I%26#39;ve been going to this area for years... Have you considered the Gruene Tx area? On the edge of NB.. about an hour from San ANtonio... Gruene is not really a town, but more an area.. The most awesome bed and breakfast is there.. called the Gruene Mansion Inn and has it%26#39;s own webside.. the rooms are on the Guadalupe and most have little balcony areas to sit outside.. the included breakfast is awesome and the people who run it are so great. My husband and i spend our anniversaries there as it is romatic.. We stayed in one of their cabins with a fireplace.. take a look at their website... just outside is the small town area.. full of shops you can rummage in all day long... right next door is the Gristmill Restuarant... this is a must if you go to the area as this place has not only great food at reasonable prices, but ambiance.. there is a wine tasting shop in Gruene... everything is within walking distance.. The Gruene Dancehall is right next door also.. oldest in Texas and alot of fun... family oriented during the day and a great place to sit and listen to some great music at night... GO to the Gruene Tx website.. we love this place and there aren%26#39;t many left like it anymore..... to answer your quesitons... Spring Break is around March 11 this year, the temp can vary from warm to cool.. but not cold.. The Riverwalk in SA is wonderful anytime of the year.. The Hilton on the Riverwalk is good as is the Holiday Inn on the RIverwalk.. all are going to be high... but it%26#39;s worth it to stay along the river... There%26#39;s a place called the Little Rhine Steak House next door to the Hilton.. very worth it , the steaks melt in your mouth ....SA is very romantic.. Like is said, any hotel on the river in SA is going to be high, but it%26#39;s worth it not to have to drive in their traffic.. everything you will need you can walk to if you stay along the RIverwalk, even the Alamo... have fun...as for wineries, pull up Texas Hill Country on your search engine.. there are MANY.... have fun.. dh
