New Years Eve?

My girlfriend and I are thinking of spending New Years in SA. We will be travelling around tX for the previous week, and was wondering what kind of New Years celebrations go on there. Should we stay on riverwalk, or save $ and take a taxi to there or elsewhere? Any hotel suggestions? We dont need five star, we are pretty simplistic. one thing we dont want to do is go party then drive!

New Years Eve?

I think you will love New Years in SA....and whether you stay on Riverwalk with less money in your pocket, you stay out near the airport and Taxi into town...you%26#39;ll have fun! There are a lot of things to see and do besides riverwalk too! Good Luck!

New Years Eve?

Staying on the Riverwalk is really fun. If money isn%26#39;t a huge issue, I%26#39;d splurge and stay there. There%26#39;s lots of walking, shopping, tons of restaurants and bars in the immediate area.

why pay so much to stay on the river walk? I booked a room at red roof in downtown and have stayed there before. The rate for new years eve is $ 65 on redroofinn.com. The place is nice and close enought to downtown to see it all. Don%26#39;t pay the over inflated riverwalk prices...you can still enjoy the riverwalk without staying in a room there. save your money for the booze/party/taxi ride...this is just my recommendation though

I can think of nothing worse than having to stay in SA for New years - I have lived here for 5 years and this town really has no night life. I would spend my time in Austin- youger more fun city and i think for the most part safer by my experience. I am originally from Austin so i am slightly biased

Stay on the Riverwalk. Enjoy all the surroundings Go to La Villita. Huge New Year%26#39;s Eve celebration with live bands, food, drinks, fireworks. I think it is a great place to be on New Years Eve. As for Austin. It is okay if you are into drunk college kids on ';6th Street'; or whatever goes on in the ';Warehouse District';. Stick with SA.

Like nearly every othe public party in San Antonio, NYE downtown is a family affair. If you guys are looking for a boozefest, you may want to look elsewhere. If you%26#39;re just looking for a great time with lots of food, drink, and fireworks (not to mention strangers huggin%26#39; ya at the stroke of midnight!), then San Antonio will work for you.

I%26#39;d stay on the River Walk if you want to splurge.

Have fun and happy new year! Salud!

Definitely stay at a hotel on the Riverwalk. Personal favorites are the Hyatt and Valencia. Not staying on the Riverwalk is liking going to Vegas and not staying on the strip.

Rooms will be at a premium that night..For a great room on the River, try Priceline..Like the airlines,All Hotels want to be sold out..Also check out Drury Inn Riverwalk..They have a rooftop pool, comp happy hour,as well as breakfast..

The Riverwalk area throws a great party for NY eve. Fireworks and ball dop from the hemisfair, excellant choice of restaurants, and bars. If you don%26#39;t already have a room on the RW then it%26#39;s probably too late unless you don%26#39;t mind spending $$$. try finding a room near market square which is usually available and more reasonable. plus Mi Tierra serves up an excellant Tex Mex breakfast and bloody mary for the AM. also walking around the market and a little shopping can be a good cure. Hope this helps.

Just before Christmas I put in a bid of $75 on Priceline and recieved the Marriot near the Hemisphere park for 12/31-1/4. It%26#39;s not directly on the Riverwalk but seems to be walkable. It%26#39;s saving me over $100/night over my previous reservation at a Riverwalk hotel. I used biddingfortravel.com to gather the info I needed to make my bid. Good luck!
