small intimate boutique style hotel

My boyfriend and I are heading to Dallas for a weekend and would like to stay at a small boutique style hotel for one or two nights and would appreciate some advice and recommendations.

I%26#39;d also like to know what else we could do that is unique to Dallas. We will have a car so can drive and perhaps even stay the night away from the city.

Thanks

The Belmont is out of the ordinary.

Hotel St. Germain

The Stoneleigh

The Melrose

Hotel Lawrence

The Mansion on Turtle Creek

The Adolphus

note that boutique is not the equivalent of small--none of these are huge but they%26#39;re not B%26amp;Bs either.

For an unusual B%26amp;B The Corinthian is outstanding.

Why would you want to spend the night away from the city? There%26#39;s no where really special to drive if you%26#39;re just going to be here a couple of days and there%26#39;s plenty to do in Dallas and Fort Worth.

If you would like to spend a night away from Dallas, how about coming over to Fort Worth and staying downtown at Etta%26#39;s Place? It is a ten room B%26amp;B right in Sundance Square.

I love The Belmont - we stayed there in Sept. It%26#39;s great and having a car is a good thing since you will need to drive anwhere from there - there%26#39;s nothing in the immediate area.

Just booked the Belmont for our 10th anniversary in town getaway in November. Can%26#39;t wait. Read great reviews. Any suggestions for dinner that is relatively close by?

Hattie%26#39;s is probably the best place in Bishop Arts. I ate at Cosmo Rouge once, but didn%26#39;t care for it - not well thought-out food.

Your best bet might be to head across the river into downtown and eat at Craft in the W Hotel or Stephan Pyles next to the DMA.

Hi all,

Thanks for all your advice, I will look into all the hotels suggested. I did look at The Belmont, which sounded really interesting.

CP, I%26#39;m an artist, we%26#39;re heading to Dallas to visit The Fairmount Art Gallery, who have just taken on representing my work - we%26#39;re living in NY - so like to get away from big cities when we can - get outdoors, find a patch of grass or a lake rather than concrete and skyscrapers!!

Looking through the forums, we%26#39;re thinking of heading to Fort Worth, as %26#39;poodle%26#39; suggested, or perhaps even driving to Austin - then flying from there back to NY.

Looking forward to good texan hospitality and ribs!

If you are looking for a nice patch of grass with in Dallas, go over to White Rock Lake- it really is a nice area and a good walk!

kiwi - just so you know...Sundance Square is in downtown Ft Worth - all concrete. But such a much smaller scale then nyc.

If you are looking for something really unique, you could stay a night in the Safari Tents at Fossil Rim in Glen Rose. Dinosaur Valley State Park is located near there...fossilized dino footprints in the river bed. Glen Rose is about and hour and a half from Dallas.

Hey the safari tent idea sounds really unique, I%26#39;ll look into that..

Thanks again...

Hope this makes it easier:
