I would suggest visiting the Buckhorn Saloon and Museum. Follow the attractions link to their website to get more info. I would also suggest riding the river barge to get a little bit of history about the river, the downtown area, and to hear some cheesy jokes. You may want to do this in the early evening when the when the Christmas Lights come on. Your kids may enjoy Ripleys Believe It or Not and Wax Museum across from the Alamo. Not really worth the money, but if your kids like that sort of thing you may want to try it.

Boudro%26#39;s is probably the best place ot eat on the Riverwalk. Your kids will probably want to eat at the Rain Forest Cafe on the Riverwalk. Stay away from the Mexican food restaurants on the Riverwalk as they are not very good. Rosario%26#39;s just a few blocks south of hotel on Alamo St. has very good Mexican food. You can also go take the trolley to the Market for some Mexican Food at either Mi Tierra or La Margarita. The food is only okay, but the atmosphere is good, especially at Mi Tierra. They also have good pan dulce (sweet bread).

The city sponsors a free New Year%26#39;s Eve celebration a couple of blocks south of your hotel on Alamo St. at the HemisFair Park entrance and at La Villita. They have a kids area that may be fun for the kids and the event has plenty of food booths and about four or five music stages. The area starts getting really crowded by about 9:00 p.m. so you may want to make an early night of it and then watch the fireworks display from your hotel. It is a free event so you get a diverse crowd, but it is a generally fun event .

Hope this helps.
