Hotels from Fort Stockton to Carslbad

Looking for a decent hotel for one night on way to Ruidoso from Houston area... any ideas from those who have made the trip before?? Don%26#39;t want to make the drive in one day.. thanks dh

This is a rough one day drive! In Fort Stockton there is a Holiday Inn Express, I believe. There are a couple of hotels in Pecos, Best Western and Quality Inn.

If you are driving to Ruidoso in the winter ski season, you may want to post in the New Mexico forums, to check road conditions. We have driven from El Paso to Ruidoso and Houston to Ruidoso, and I seem to recall the drive portion of Roswell to Ruidoso had some curvy, hilly roads and would make for a treacherous drive for someone not used to those in winter conditions of ice and snow. The route from El Paso is mostly highway and more well-travelled.
