Girls Weekend

Have not been to San Antonio for a few years, but some friends want to head there in April for a girls weekend. Any suggestions for a hotel on the Riverwalk that is in a good location? Also, any new/good restaurant recommendations?

check the hotel reviews on the left of this page for greater insight from folks that have stayed there. it%26#39;s tough for some of us locals to comment on hotels...however, i would vote for the Drury Inn, Hyatt or Marriott on the riverwalk based upon my experiences with these hotels as well as comments from folks in this forum. they%26#39;re all close to everything downtown and nice places to stay.....restaurants? Pesca, Citrus, Las Canarias, Texas Land %26amp; Cattle, Boudro%26#39;s are all good places on the riverwalk. Schilo%26#39;s deli is good for sandwiches.

Do you know of any tour guides that I can hire (and pay for from here in the UK) who can show my boyfriend around Dallas??

He%26#39;s got to come to Dallas for a month%26#39;s training for his new job and I’d rather he was shown round town by someone who will show him Dallas%26#39; attractions rather than their attractions if you know what I mean!!!!

I don%26#39;t know of any specific tour company or guides. However,if he is renting a car he may want to venture out on his own. A good resource is www.guidelive.com There are different categories and such that may help him in planning some trips/sight seeing.

How many days would be enough to see sites around Riverwalk.

We are family of 4 with 2 teens. We are planning to stay in hotel on riverwalk would we need a car?

in my opinion you just need one full day (two at the most) to see everything around the riverwalk...from the alamo...to the shops/restaurants....taking a river cruise...etc. if you just plan on staying downtown, then you won%26#39;t need a car. taking a taxi from the airport to downtown is about $20 one way. there are many hotels around downtown.....just read the review on the left of this page to get a better idea of where to stay.

I agree with the previous poster that one or two days is enough to see the riverwalk area. But there is so much more to SA. Don%26#39;t forget the tour of the missions, the market, and sea world/fiesta Texas just out of town.

Where to Stay?????/

Looking for a place for our family vacation next Summer. Looking to bring along my sis and her hubby but may not happen. Anyway, I am torn between trying a rent a condo or a hotel. I was looking at the Holiday Inn Express but also at some of the condos listed. Trying not to make $$$ an issue but don%26#39;t really want to spend that much $ on a place. Do any of the locations offer a military discount that anyone knows of?

I was kind of looking at the Sand Castle and the La Mirage, any suggestions? Would appreciate any input. Also, if anyone has a particular unit # of either places, I would apprecaite that also.

Never stayed at La Mirgage so can only comment as to location. It is several miles out of town so not as convenient as San Castle. Have stayed at Sand Castle many times. Always had a good experience there. Close to beach, in town, smaller propertiy so easier to get around, rooms are large and updated. The one bedroom at the best.

Agree w/ post... La Mirage is too far out, so is Pt Royal and the sandpiper, seagull.

Sandcastle is close and reasonable. Pool isnt that big and can get crowded. We have stayed there many times and never had an ';updated room';. Not a bad place, but we didnt want to hang out in our room...

You might try the Executive Keys. They are on the beach and good price. We have alot of friends that stay there. It is on the trolley stop too! ExKeys is close as well. Hol Inn is a short walk to the beach.

Our fav is Aransas Princess (next to ExKeys). 8 stories tall, 2 pools (one heated w/ hot tub). Its pricey though but units are really nice and have great views of the ocean.

Be sure to book soon though - Port A fills up very fast.....and especially now that Mustang Island is on the top Ten Beaches!

would suggest casa del cortes....very charming and closest to the beach in the island .... Sand Castle is definately better than La Mirage but if you are willing to be that far out, Mayan Princess (ask for platinum unit) has 2 great pools and wonderful units. If you wnat the beachy feel stay away from hotels.

Yeah...I think all Embassy Suites have indoor pools...although not big.

Where is the corn maze in Katy? Isn%26#39;t it at the dewberry farm where you cut trees? Anyone have a website?

The website is www.dewberryfarm.com. We took our kids to Dewberry Farm back in October and had an absolute blast. We took a hayride back to the pumpkin patch where the hayride driver gave some information about the farm and one of the things I remember was that they have planted Christmas trees on the farm but they will not be ready to cut until Christmas 2007 or maybe 2008. My kids can%26#39;t wait to go back next year.

I agree with both of these posts. You can also google ';Texas corn maze'; and get listings for the state.

25th Anniversary Trip

My husband and I are planning our 25th anniversary. We are looking at San Antonio. We would like to stay on the Riverwalk. Any suggestions on the best, clean, (not the most expensive) hotels would be appreciated. Thanks.

the ';best'; and more expensive hotels are La Mansion, Watermark, Hotel Valencia %26amp; Westin. for a less expensive option, i%26#39;ve only heard good things about the Drury Inn on the Riverwalk. Having stayed at many other Drury%26#39;s, I am a fan of the hotel chain as you get a spacious, clean room for a decent price. The Hyatt and Marriott are also great, but they%26#39;ll probably run you more...but worth a check.
