I am looking to go somewhere warm for 3-4 days. I live in Southern Calif and want to go to a nice Resort somewhere in the Western United States. But it has to be a warm weather area where we can bask in the sun while the kids play in a pool. My kids like waterslides and lazy rivers.
We recently went to Mandaly Bay in Vegas, the Fairmont Princess in Scottsdale and the Grand Wailea in Maui just to give an idea of what we are looking for. I dont want to travel very far for such a short trip (3 nights). I guess I would be willing to go as far as Texas (my kids don%26#39;t do well on planes on long trips).
Any suggestions? My preference is a large resort with lots of pools etc...but a beachside resort is an option too as long as its warm/hot.
Where to go Memorial weekend with girls ages 9 %26amp; 6?
Howdy! You sure plan ahead!!
Two of our family%26#39;s favorites (boy age 11, girl age 10) are the Hyatt Hill Country in San Antonio and the Hyatt Lost Pines in Bastrop.
Both resorts are comparable, with the Lost Pines Resort being newer and I think a little pricier. It also has horseback riding in case your girls love horses like my girl does. The Hyatt Hill Country doesn%26#39;t have a waterslide (best I recall), but both resorts really cater to kids with tons of activities all day long. The weather over Memorial Day will be warm enough to swim in both Ausin and San Antonio.
Besides the resort, San Antonio has the Riverwalk, and Austin has the bat colony (really spectacular - a must see), so there are things to do once the kids have had enough sun.
Both San Antonio and Austin (for Bastrop) are easily accessible from various points in southern California via Southwest Airlines. One thing about Southwest that might benefit you is that lots of their flights are quick hops with plane changes.
La Cantera resort in San Antonio is also very, very nice, but I don%26#39;t think kids like it as much (mine don%26#39;t).
Have a great trip!
