Has anyone tried some of the new ones, such as La Frit, Bin 555, Flip Burgers, Big%26#39;z Burgers, Oodles, etc. I saw on their website that Flips has $1 margaritas the 6th, 7th and 8th of this month. We may go this evening.
New Restaurants
We went to Flip Burgers last night. The menu looks like it was partially lifted from Chris Madrid%26#39;s with a few additions (Sweet Potato chips being my particular favorite).
I ordered the cheese burger. My husband got the ';lunch special'; (which was still available at around 6 pm), which was a ';Burger Burger'; with fries and drink. I believe the special was $5.95.
The burgers are square, the buns are sweet. The meat was pretty good, although a bit too salted for my taste. I had to drink a ton of water about an hour after we got home. The sweet potato fries were a bit burnt, but edible and still good.
They offer three salsas on the condiments table. The red salsa was so-so. The green salsa was pretty good - tasty and just hot enough. The pico was also good.
All in all, it wasn%26#39;t a terrible place for burgers. It%26#39;s more convenient to the northside and it%26#39;s near the Quarry, giving shoppers an additional nice, inexpensive place to eat. But I think we might stick with Chris Madrid%26#39;s..
BTW -- I really, really, REALLY miss Buck%26#39;s Landing!!!!!! (insert frown here)
New Restaurants
Bucks Landing is gone--my husband %26amp; I loved that place. We use to live in SA a few years ago and so sorry we had to move!! We are actually leaving Saturday for a quick weekend trip.....I guess a stop at Buck%26#39;s is out....
We tried Oodles on Blanco/410 this weekend and I have to say it was the worst tasting experience I have had. We tried the thai peanut spicy and the pad thai noodles. They both had a strong lime flavor that overpowered all other ingredients. The peanut spicy was a pasty sauce that was very unpleasant to taste. I spent $27 on a meal for two that we hardly touched. The dumplings we ordered as an appetizer was the only thing worth eating. I will never go there again.
We%26#39;ve been to Bin 555 a couple of times and I like it a lot . It%26#39;s slightly on the pricey side, but has nice ambience and wonderful food. The chocolate dessert -- I can%26#39;t remember what it%26#39;s called -- was the absolute BEST chocolate anything I have ever had!!
Bucks was great, but I%26#39;ve heard wonderful things about Rio Mambo (in it%26#39;s place.)
Hubby went to Flipz and said it was ok. Wonder if it is still like Cementville, they had good sweet potato chips too. Same owners, chefs maybe?
Bigz looks great! I want to go today. Yummy :)
We ate at La Frit about 3 months ago just after they opened. Food was great, I had the mussels and others had a fish dish. Everyone enjoyed their food. Wine was horrible and over priced. Hopefully they’ve corrected that.
