Red Roof Inn Downtown

Has any one stayed here? I think I waited a little to late to get anything different for New Years. Anyone have any info or ideals? thanks

Red Roof Inn Downtown

never stayed there - it looks like a decent place to stay.....the location is close enough to downtown to walk to just about anything such as the Riverwalk, Alamo, Hemisfair Park, etc....should you choose to walk (or you could take a quick taxi ride). You%26#39;ll walk under I-37 and the lights there are multi-colored and change colors constantly...it%26#39;s kind of fun....just be careful....you should be safe as there will be plenty of people around on New Years eve.....but just keep your guard up as the Red Roof Inn is on the edge of the ';sketchy'; east side of downtown.

Red Roof Inn Downtown

that%26#39;s what I%26#39;m worried about... do you know of anything better? that%26#39;s still avail. ?

availability is the great unknown. There%26#39;s a Days Inn and Hampton Inn on the downtown side of I-37 close to the Red Roof Inn that might be a little better.....also, try Residence Inn and La Quinta....but really, the Red Roof Inn looks ok to me. You should be safe walking to/from all these hotels (including the red roof inn)....especially early in the evening. There is public parking under the I-37 bridge, and Houston Street is a major exit from the highway. There will be lots of people around, and I feel confident that you%26#39;ll be safe....just use common sense. if you are coming back to the hotel at 2am, then you might want to take a taxi just to be on the safe side....

I stayed there several years ago, once alone, once about a year later with 2 friends. It%26#39;s actually across the freeway from Downtown although it%26#39;s still very much walking (or stumbling) distance from the Riverwalk. The neighborhood was industrial, but it seemed pretty safe. Parking seemed limited, although I got there pretty early. It%26#39;s one of the best values in Downtown, I think, and is very well maintained (actually, I%26#39;ve never found a bad Red Roof).

Whats your second choice? We stayed there a couple years ago and would not recommend it. Its on the other side of the freeway and the walk at night was I think dangerous. Even though I can take care of myself, I found myself looking behind me every few seconds. And the hotel cuts all the corners by not providing the simplist of amenities. Ex. no plastic bags for the ice buckets in the room. the kleenex was the ones you carried in your wifes purse, you know those little plastic baggy ones.etc etc Keep looking and good luck.

We have stayed here several times over the years and we never had any problems. Any little thing that you may incounter they will fix and make you happy and comfortable. Since the past few years have gone by, that area has built up. There is new hotel across from the RRI, I think it is a Days Inn. Yes, you have to walk under the highway, but its not a big deal. The drive ways and sidewalks are fine and there is nothing torn up. As for safety, we didnt feel threatened at all. I think one should always be aware of whats around them them anyways. We are staying there again for 2006 for xmas. :)
