There have been several Thanksgiving posts recently but I am sure folks will try to answer specifically to the Galleria area. How many days are you staying?

poodleone,

we are staying 3 days...nov. 23-25. I did read all the post. Just nothing specific about happenings on thanksgiving day in particular. all the usual sights i assume will be closed. we have never been to dallas so not sure what is around the galleria area.

thanks.

So far, the only thing that leaps to mind that is usually open in Thanksgiving is movie theatres. Here%26#39;s a website but only one theatre has its movies posted for the 23rd- keep checking!

That said, there is usually some kind of article in the paper before Thanksgiving listing ';places to go';- I%26#39;ll keep an eye out!

Tailgating at Texas Stadium before the Dallas Cowboys football game!

Hmm, looks like there%26#39;s going to be tailgating at Texas Stadium.

We do the same thing every Thanksgiving: watch the Macy%26#39;s parade, have dinner, go to the Pocket Sandwich Theater%26#39;s dress rehearsal/anniversary party. The dress rehearsal is for ';Ebenzer'; that opens the following night.

So I have zero experience in finding things to do during the day. It seems to me that maybe the Science Place is open--they used to only close on Christmas Day, don%26#39;t know if that%26#39;s still true.

Of course, movies are a big item. The new AMC at North Park is really nice.

We will be visiting Dallas and arriving on Thanksgiving day too. I have found that the 6th floor museum is going to be open. So if you%26#39;re interested, it%26#39;s an option. I%26#39;m not sure of the distance from the galleria to the museum...

It%26#39;s about 10 miles from the Gallerie to the 6th Floor Museum. The 6th Floor Museum is really great, you will enjoy the time you spend there.

While driving around the Mid-Cities/downtown FW yesterday, I heard that Billy Bob%26#39;s will be open Thanksgiving night. Granted this would be a bit of a drive from the Galleria but a good opportunity to go to someplace fun and different. Also, I swear I heard a commercial on the radio (could have been delerium from being trapped on 820 during rush hour) that the Main Events (www.maineventusa.net) will be open on Thanksgiving- can%26#39;t see anything on the website but you could call the one in Lewisville which would be fairly close to the Galleria.
