Buzzards Roost, Boquilla, Mexica?

Is it still possible to go over to Boquillas, Mexico and stay at the Buzzards Roost with Doris and Joe?

Buzzards Roost, Boquilla, Mexica?

timberworld,

I am sorry to say that you can not do that any more. The informal crossing is closed. If you were to get caught it will be a lot of trouble for you. There are now signs warning you. The locals bring a few trinkets over and leave them on the US side of the river, and then stand and sell them to you long distance. You pick up something, leave the moeny in a jar. We did wade across the river for a few minutes, but I would strongly advise not to go into town. The town of Boquilla has greatly declined, losing at least half of it%26#39;s population. It is a very sad situation.

Doris and I used to write (snail mail) I have misplaced her address, she also wrote a column for my pen pal newsletter when I published it. I have not heard from her for awhile now and have been very concerned about her and Joe. If anyone has any information about them would you please contact me at normajean_43@yahoo.com. Is their web site still on line? Doris didn%26#39;t do it but a friend of theirs made a web site for the Buzzards Roost.....Cookie Hilderbrand

There%26#39;s a good article at
