gulfview condominiums, south padre

Has anyone stayed at the Gulfview Condo complex. It says that it%26#39;s a 3 minute walk to the beach....does it have shared beach with some of the other hotels and condos? I%26#39;ve read some other reviews that say they really enjoyed their stay there...in an updated unit...and the price is really good for having a little more space than just a hotel room. Anyway...I%26#39;ll take any more info. that anyone has to share about their stay or great restaurant suggestions, etc.

The whole beach at South Padre Island is public; no hotel has its own so Gulfview shares with everyone. It is about three to five minutes walk and really has no, or very little, view of the Gulf from the condos. It is across a small road(which leads to the Holiday Inn Sunspree and another gulffront complex) from Schlitterbahn Waterpark which may make it noisy at times. There were lots of these units resold and remodelled a few years back so I imagine some are just fine.

We enjoy the Sea Ranch Restaurant and Scampi%26#39;s for more upscale dining, Blackbeard%26#39;s and Pirate%26#39;s Landing in Port Isabel for more casual(although everywhere is casual as far as dress). Have heard good things about Dirty Al%26#39;s but have not been. Also, for good fresh seafood in Port Isabel try Harborview at B%26amp;A Seafood.

Hope this helps.

I%26#39;ve stayed there several times because it%26#39;s near the end if the island I%26#39;m usually at and it%26#39;s cheap. Gulfview is an older complex and rooms may be rundown or upgraded. Ask before you book when the last upgrades were.

There is a sidewalk access to the beach that runs beside the Spree but you have to walk across a large parking lot first, so wear shoes. The pool is OK but little shade. You can see Schlitterbahn well from the south side of the building but you can%26#39;t walk to it because of a fence. Well you could, but you have to go down to the main road, south about a half-mile, and then back up across their huge parking lot.

The marina where most boat tours operate is about across the road from Schlitterbahn. When you cross the causeway you%26#39;ll go right, most of the island is to the left.

Thanks reefrat and luvthatspi for your helpful replies. It always helps to get some tips from people who%26#39;ve been there.

Hi all, Regarding Gulfview. My husband son and I have stayed at Gulfview I several times. We have enjoyed it so much we are in the process of purchasing a condo there. Yes they have a pool also wire less net service. We used an independent rental agent the last time and we were disapointed. We have never been disapointed in our condos we have rented when we have just called Gulfview I and rented through them they been both honest with what type of condo its also an inexpensive way to go. We have been so happy with servise we have rec just by calling Gulfview I and booking we are placing our condo with them. The condos we rented this way were very clean and well maintained. I wont go into details of the condo we got for a extra low price with an independent person. Lets just say it was a nightmare. Our son has autism and he has no problems walking to the baech from there. SandyKy
