We will be in Austin from Christmas thru New Year%26#39;s and we are looking at some excursion trips not too far from Austin. There are several young kids in the group from 18 mos to 4 years and was thinking of Moody Gardens. What do you all think of that place? For kids especially. Thanks.
How is Moody Gardens?
Galveston is about 4-5 hours from Austin. I think Moody Gardens is over-rated, but what tourist attraction usually isn%26#39;t. Kids do enjoy this place though and there are several different attractions here.
How is Moody Gardens?
Besides Moody Gardens you could also consider Kemah BroadWalk ,its a family fun place with activities for kids and
restaurant /shops.There%26#39;s also a boat cruise.
In Galvston you can try the Ferry to Bolivar.
What my niece enjoyed most was the Ferry ride from Galveston Island to Bolivar peninsula -Its a free Ferry service ,which
takes cars across the channel.Drive a while on the
Bolivar Peninsula ,Have a picnic on one of the beaches.
(weather permitting)
It has a lot of vacation homes along the beach.
Kids seem to love Moody Gardens - the penguins excite everyone. You can also go to Schlitterbahn water park (they have a heated section to keep it open in the winter) and it is right next to Moody Gardens.
