Cruising from Galveston on December 3...seeking lodging

Hi...first time to post here...

I am handicapped (wheelchair user) and this is our first ever cruise and visit to Galveston!

I have been doing extensive research of their area hotels that have handicapped accessible rooms....seems that term means different things to different hotels.

We would like to stay 2 nights prior to cruise departure and one night afterwards, and have a budget to work with of about $300.

I have seen a multitude of positive and negatives reports on several hotels, and we%26#39;re finding it difficult to make a decision where to stay.

We are driving so we will have our own tranpsortation....

Any reccomendations you can share with us, experiences etc would be greatly appreciated!

We are considering the following hotels: Quality Inn, Howard Johnsons and the new Baymont Inn %26amp; Suites...

Thank you for any help/advice you can give us

Considering your budget, here%26#39;s another thought to keep in mind.

Most of the hotels/motels will allow you to park your vehicle at their site if you%26#39;re cruising. A very few will even transport you to the terminal. Parking your vehicle at the terminal site will run $10 per day.

One place that%26#39;s listed on a Galveston site that provides a shuttle is a new La Quinta. I know some La Quintas even have wheelchair accessible showers (drive right in). Of course traveling by shuttle may not be an option, but a park and ride feature may help in offsetting some expenses.

When we were looking for property on the seawall we stayed at the La Quinta 8700 very friendly and they you have free service to take you to the pier. Not sure how much or if it cost to keep your car parked there. I f you book online it runs around $69 a night (nice rooms) Go on www.LaQuinta.com . and put in for aaa membership (even if you don%26#39;t have one they take that price without see it). You better book soon because that is the week of Dickens Christmas on the Strand the prices fo up. Good luck and have a great cruise.
