Hi oldiesguy -

The weather in the first week of November....well, it%26#39;ll probably be in the 50s at night and the 70s during the day, unless we get a cold front! Short sleeves all depend on your tolerance. We%26#39;re in the 70s right now and I%26#39;m in short sleeves myself.

As far as the BBQ question, oh man, that%26#39;s wide open. Everyone%26#39;s got their preference down here. Personally, my favorite BBQ is at Burns BBQ, in the Heights area. It%26#39;s terrific. Then again, I tend to stay away from the ';chains';, like Pappas, Goode, etc., although they%26#39;re not bad by any means. If there are any BBQ buffets, I don%26#39;t know about them.

San Antonio is about 3 hours away, yes. Great place. Here, we have the Kemah Boardwalk south of town, with all kinds of restaurants (including the Cadillac Bar for Mexican food - good place), shops, carnival rides, etc. Not sure if you%26#39;d enjoy that, but it%26#39;s an idea. We%26#39;ve got plenty of nightlife and things to do here, for sure. It%26#39;s all about what you%26#39;re interested in!

Short sleves should be fine. You might pack a cotton sweater. Even if outdoor temps don%26#39;t call for it, indoor AC will.

San Antonio is a fun town. Take the boat trip along the river. Be sure to visit the Museum of Texan Culture (Hemisfair area). Head north on I-35. Stop in Gruene (pronounced Green) near New Braunfels; the Grist Mill serves might good chicken fried steak. Willy and the boys may be playing at the Gruene Hall. Keep going north and exit the freeway at Buda. Ask for directions to The Salt Lick...absolutely the best BBQ in TEXAS or THE WORLD. It%26#39;s closed Monday. BYOB and cash only. Order family style, all you can eat. If you get there after 6pm on Friday-Sun., expect to wait. Bring a deck of cards and enjoy.
