New Year ideas?

Hello

Me and my boyfriend are staying in Houston for the New Year...

Any ideas of where we should go, what we should eat, what we should see and do on the night of the 31st of December?

We want to experience typical Houstonian New Year celebrations!

Ideas welcome...

New Year ideas?

Do you like the nightlife - clubs, etc. or do you like an older crowd, less clublike and more ballroom like?

You might start looking at some of the ads in houstonpress.com - somewhat of a sleezy magazine at times, you have to know what you are looking for. A lof the clubs will start posting their ads in the magazine in the next month or so (it is a weekly publication so be patient). May not see any New Years Eve ads until November.

You might look at some of the hotels and see what they are planning for news years eve ..

Hotel Icon

Hotel ZaZa (which will have just opened)

Hyatt Regency

The Magnolia

New Year ideas?

Just like Valentines, most hotels will offer a package for you and your bf. Here are some to check out: Magnolia, Icon, Rice Lofts, or Hilton Americas. If you can, stay downtown because alot of people head out there to party.

Last year they had a bunch of tents set up in Heritage Park (in downtown) to celebrate New Years, but they overbooked it and my friends ended up waiting in a line. So be wary about stuff like that.

There are pleanty of great restaurants downtown, also book that in advance. Also check out the local magazines and papers. Like the above poster said Houston press (http://www.houstonpress.com/) or 002 (http://www.002mag.com/) or ENVY (http://envymags.com/events.html).

Hello

Agnes again. Thanks for all your ideas. I will avoid the big tents stuff! Actually thinking about it I think we%26#39;d like to go for a nice dinner on New Year%26#39;s eve. What are your recommendations?

Nice restaurants

Rouge

Marks

DaMarco%26#39;s

Mia Bella

I agree with Texas7%26#39;s picks (you will need a car for all of them)

Rouge - New American

Marks - American (I highly recommend and pricey)

DaMarco%26#39;s - Italian

Mia Bella - Italian

I would also recommend:

Striphouse - steakhouse

17 - New American

Bank @ Hotel Icon - New American
