Expert Help for Houston to Galveston Trip

Let me make sure I am getting this right- you want to make a day trip from San Antonio to Houston, then Galveston, and back to San Antonio in one day?

I don%26#39;t see how that is possible, unless you leave at midnight and return at midnight. That would not be an enjoyable day at all.

Travel time from SA to Houston is approx 4 hours, depending on what time of day, etc. Also, Battleship Texas is on the southeast side of Houston, so add an extra 45 minutes or so. Then the Elissa is in Galveston, another 45 minute drive from Battleship Texas.

So, just in driving time, round trip, you%26#39;re talking 11 plus hours, and you haven%26#39;t stopped to see anything yet.

If you don%26#39;t want to travel from SA to Houston/Galveston, then back in one day, it is possible.

Sorry I was not clear, leave SA early, to go to Houston Hotel, wondering if we have time for UUS Texas, Elissa then head down to Galveston beach in the afternoon, sunset %26amp; dinner then back to Houston. And still need dinner advice, want local experience, food we don%26#39;t get in Kansas, lol! Thanks

If the only thing you are doing in Houston is visiting the Battleship Texas, why not make it a stop on your way to Galveston, then see the Elissa and beaches in Galveston. Overnight in Galveston since you want to see a sunset. If you find yourself short on time, you can do the Elissa the next morning before heading back.

Some great restaurants in the Houston area: Pappasitos (Mexican), Carrabba%26#39;s Italian Grill and any of the Pappas restaurants.

I see where the problem is, I have the Tall ship Elissa in wrong location, wonder how that happened? Using this trip maker, must have on wrong day of trip also. Yes, do UUS Texas on way to Galveston that will make for a nice break for stretching our legs. Thanks for help.

If you are eating in Galveston or Houston I would suggest eating at a local restaurant rather than a chain (they%26#39;ll taste the same in every state). In Galveston I would try Saltwater Grill, Pic%26#39;s on 45th, Rudy %26amp; Paco%26#39;s, Mosquito Cafe, or the Original Mexican Cafe. The first 3 mentioned are fairly nice and the latter two are more casual.

I totally agree with Texas7. While the chains are nice and guaranteed safe bets for dining, while in Galveston, you have to hit some of the local places. They have wonderful, fresh seafood straight off of the boats. You wouldn%26#39;t want to miss that!

Hopefully I caught you before you left. If not, hope you enjoy your trip. It%26#39;s the off season in Galveston, so you should be able to get a really great deal on a hotel room.
