Torre Di Pietra Vinyards

First visted this place in December. We stopped by on a whim after a very dissapointing trip to the pretentious ';Becker';. For a new winery (Open 13 months at first visit.) it is truly an enjoyable place. The staff is very welcoming and provide a most entertaining tasting. Live upbeat music is offered during the afternoons on the weekends as well as lunch, cheese and chocolates!

We revisited the vinyard on Febuary 24 and 25 and had an even more enjoyable time. On Friday afternoon it was chilly and overcast but we had the place almost to ourselvs. Enjoyed a bottle of Cab by their large fireplace and were asked a couple of times if there was anything they could do for us. Saturday we did a tasting bought 3 additional bottles and a couple of cheese baskets sat in the courtyard soaking up the newly emerged sun while we listened to a good country band.

The wine is nice (Brought a case home.)and the atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. I would recommend this place whether you are a rookie or a true oenophile! It is currently ';off the radar'; and not as popular as some of the other vino stops in the area but well worth the time.

Torre Di Pietra Vinyards

Thanks for this review! I just booked a romantic getaway to Fredericksburg and thought we could do a little winery tour one of the days. The B%26amp;B we booked (Magnolia House) recommended Becker, Torre Di Pietra, Woodrose and Grape Creek. Did you try either of those last two? Any other recommendations from you? (dining, driving or otherwise)

Thanks!

We end up staying too long at Torre de Pietra each time (good music and atmosphere) and have never made it to Grape Creek before it closes.

I have never been to Woodrose but have heard some good reviews from friends about it.
