I will be in Houston Nov 2, i booked a room at the Marriott Townsuites in NW Houston,is this a good area around the 290 freeway,i see that both airports are about the same distance away,ill be flying into Hobby.Texas7 you seem to be a wiz on every topic,very helpful answers,thank you very much.

Glad to help. I%26#39;m not sure exactly where along 290 the Marriot Townsuites is. There are a few areas of 290 that are not too desirable right now. Do you know the cross-streets near your hotel? Areas of 290 %26amp; Tidwell, Little York, Antoine, etc. aren%26#39;t too great anymore. Farther beyond that (290 %26amp; Beltway 8 and beyond is good). I hope you enjoy your stay here.

At this location, you%26#39;ll actually be closer to IAH-Bush Airport on the north side of town.

The 290 area is not bad, you will have lots of restaurants around you and easy access to the city.

I looked it up on mapquest and when you dine out in that area, I would limit yourself the the restaurants that are right on 290 -- there are lots of good ones and lots of choices. Logan%26#39;s Roadhouse is a good choice for casual (steaks, chicken, salads, burgers, etc.). ... I wouldn%26#39;t go into some of the areas along the side and cross streets in that immediate area (unless you are someone who is familiar with that area. If you get to Beltway 8, then you are fine on the other streets.

There is a mall at 290 and 610 called Northwest Mall - not much there and really wouldn%26#39;t advise going there -- it%26#39;s been on the decline for years. If you do go to a mall, you may as well drive to the Galleria.
