Houston or galveston?

We are planning on having a vacation right after Christmas to houston. I have a 4yrs old and a 6 yrs old daughters and I want to know where is a better place for me to stay. We plan to go to Children%26#39;s Museum, Downtown Aquarium, Moody%26#39;s Garden, Kemah and probbaly try the ferry to Bolivar. Do I need to stay in Houston (Galleria) or Galveston? We also need an area where we have lots of choices for food. Thanks.

You don%26#39;t say how many nights you will stay here, but I would stay in both places, as Galveston is about an hour away. I would not suggest the Galleria area, based on your excursions, but there would be lots of food choices! You might want to look at a midway point between Houston and Galveston, such as Kemah, Clear Lake.

If you wanted to also visit a waterpark, Galveson has the Schlitterbahn which is partially open during winter. This is located next to Moody Gardens.

I would skip downtown aquarium and just do the one at Moody%26#39;s coz the one downtown is really small and nothing much to see or do (they do have an outdoor area for rides but still nothing much). It is also quite pricey for such a small place that doesnt offer much.

Moody%26#39;s on the other hand is really good so enjoy that when u r there. I really like the Children%26#39;s museum which is definitely worth a trip. The Houston Zoo is a very short distance from the musuem so another place that u should visit. Another good place to take kids is the Space Center (NASA).

If I am u, I would stay in Houston (Galleria) coz of the convenience and availablity (esp. good restaurants).

Based on your activities - would probably be more convenient to stay in Clear Lake, Kemah or League City.

Kemah has the Boardwalk Inn hotel and there is the Hilton on Nasa Pkwy., South Shore Harbour Resort in League City. Downtown aquarium isn%26#39;t much - you can see the same thing at Kemah Aquarium and it is more in-line with your other activities. If you stay in Clear Lake or League City, you%26#39;ll have tons of food choices nearby.
