Downtown with kids at Christmas

Will be headed back to Texas at Christmas, and meeting family at the Mognolia. What else is good for 6 yr olds in the area besides the aquarium? Sis mentioned Mediaval Times, but I hate to spend good $ on crappy food. Anywhere else nearby that might be entertaining for kids bedsides Neiman%26#39;s decorations? I used to go to downtown most every weekend, but that was 6-8 yrs ago.

One thing to do is ride DART up to NorthPark Center and see the miniature trains that benefit Ronald McDonald house. Most kids will enjoy the ride on DART (you go underground at one point) as much as seeing the little trains. Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 2 to 12 years, and $3 for seniors 65 years and older.

As poodle said...Northpark - there%26#39;s lots to look at during the holidays with the mall decked out. The train exhibit and a couple of mini shows in the mall.

Actually...the food at Medieval Times isn%26#39;t that terrible. But is it $50 good?...no, it isn%26#39;t...but the show is great as is the torture museum. I wouldn%26#39;t explain too much to a 6 yr old; I got a little queasy after reading the descriptions. You can get veggie lasagna also; if chicken doesn%26#39;t appeal to you - tell them you are vegetarian.

If it%26#39;s a nice day, Ft Worth Zoo is always good. Much, much , much better than Dallas Zoo.

A drive out to Fossil Rim - African drive-through safari where you can feed animals including giraffes.

A drive down Beverly Dr to see the lights.

I was downtown Sat night and Main St is totally lit up - it looked great. And remember, Neiman%26#39;s has great cookies at the coffee bar where you can sit on a stool and hang out. It%26#39;s on the first floor, tucked near the escalator.

Although the West End Marketplace closed this summer, there are still plenty of places to eat down there including Old Spaghetti Warehouse, which my nephews used to love to visit. I would also take a walk through the Adolphus lobby to see Christmas decorations. Reunion Tower would be good for a visit. We sat in the Dome Lounge and watched Dallas go by but your 6 year old might prefer the observation deck. Right next to the Magnolia is the Iron Cactus- I have seen kids in there having a good time just being out and about. If you are downtown on December 22 at noon, the Tuba Christmas concert will be at Thanksgiving Square. The chapel is well worth seeing, even for a young child- just takes a few minutes.

One more thought- if the weather is nice- how about the Arboretum? pepper, didn%26#39;t you just see the treehouses there recently?

Where did my post go???...sheesh...

Yes...I loved the treehouses all designed by local architects - interactive.

Science Place (Museum of Science and Nature) has a Magic School exhibit right now and next week Body World is opening.

Six Flags has Holiday in the Park. Make sure you get a discount from a Coke can.

Here%26#39;s your previous post, pepper
